Cmte. examines NHTSA's handling of auto recalls

A House Energy and Commerce Subcmte. said it will consider Nat'l Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) future while it questions the department's approach to recent auto recalls. In a previous hearing, Cmte. chairman Henry Waxman (D-CA) stated, “Toyota failed its customers, and NHTSA neglected its responsibilities.” NHTSA is expected to recongnize it's current staffing and funding challenges while also defending it approach to the Toyota recalls.

Rental Subsidy Programs Focus Of Senate Hearing

A Senate Appropriations Subcommittee is holding a hearing on proposed fiscal 2011 appropriations for Housing and Urban Development Department programs. H.U.D. Sec. Shaun Donovan is expected to discuss efforts to stabilize the housing market by reorganizing HUD’s separate rental assistance programs, as well as HUD’s fiscal year 2011 budget request.
